Environmental and science reporting in Italy

Uno sguardo al Mediterraneo, alla posizione e al ruolo dell’Italia, al contesto sociale e economico del paese che dovrebbe essere un ponte naturale tra Europa, Africa e Medio Oriente, ma che soffre la mancanza di visione di una classe dirigente miope e debole.

Non aiutano in questo i mass media: «The mainstream media and political decision makers have a culture that is totally unable to comprehend the importance of the physical basis of human life and the limits to growth». E, aggiunge Mario Salomone, «Information all too often is the succubus of strong powers and lobbies, advertising agencies and the pusillanimous, who have an antiquated mentality that basically minimizes environmental problems or is openly in denial».
